Terra Nova added a 2nd Gathering time on Sunday morning. We now meet at 9:30am as well as our regular 11am time. While this was a huge stretch for our volunteer base, it has been a good thing - we have been seeing record attendance over the last 6 weeks.
That's all good and fine, but here's something that made me think yesterday. We put banners out front to announce the new Gathering time. We made sure the website up to date. We even put together a strategy for the 6 weeks leading up to the launch of the new Gathering time to recruit volunteers to help. We forgot one little thing...the time listed on our permanent sign out front (40,000 cars go past this sign every day) still says 11am. It doesn't list our 9:30 Gathering time.
The only reason I realized this is because my 8 year-old noticed last week. My great staff, our leadership team, all of our regulars...ME...none of us realized that we never changed the times listd on the sign! But my 8 year-old did.
LESSON: Sometimes the obvious is too obvious to notice. Listen to what others (even others you might not think have valuable insight) have to say. You might learn something. You might even learn something so obvious you'll kick yourself for not noticing yourself.
Keep learning,
Jason
