This week our washer broke. After fixing one problem, then another, I found out that the part that was broken was over $100 to replace (and that didn't guarantee a fix!). We resolved ourselves to buying a new washer.
Christan talked to her mother that day and mentioned our issue. Her mom simply said that they, after moving into a new house, ended up with an extra washer, why don't we take their old one until we figure out what we need to do. Amazing! Today (Saturday) they drove down with the washer, helped me unload it, take the old one to the recycling place, and install the new one.
As Christan and I were reflecting on the events, we realized that in the course of the week, we had seen several people step up and help...
Jeff (my neighbor) let me do a quick load of laundry at his house so my kids had jeans for school.
Charlie (friend from church) helped me diagnose the first problem.
Scott & Kathleen (neighbors up the street) came down and Scott helped me fix at least one phase of the repair work.
Mike (friend from church and plumber) came over and helped figure out the part that went bad.
My In-laws drove down and gave us a washer.
Jimmy (a.k.a. Jimmy Roman!) came over and helped me unload and install the new washer.
Dustin & Charity (my brother- & sister-in-law) came over and helped unload and install the new washer.
Sarah (my sister-in-law) came over for moral support!
All those friends pitching in over a washer. That's what being in an amazing community of people is all about. I hope everyone who reads this post has a community like that!
Eternally Grateful for Great Friends,
Jason
