Take Nothing for the Journey

Mark 6:1-29
We are almost a week into this journey of reading a section of Mark each day. Today is Saturday and we will look at the first half of chapter 6 (it's a long chapter).

Jesus sends out the 12 to share about the Kingdom of God. He tells them to "take nothing for the journey..." This is my favorite verse because I am a planner. I want to have everything in order and planned out. I don't want any surpriseds. I even tell my staff I have 2 rules: No surprises & don't do anything stupid.

When Jesus sends out the 12 He wants them to be prepared to do whatever God calls them to do. I need to learn from this. Rather than trust in my own planning and my own abilities, I need to grow in my willingness (faith) to let God lead.
