Book Review: Killing Cockroaches by Tony Morgan

I have followed Tony Morgan's blog for several months now and have constantly been inspired and challenged by many of his entries. When he offered the chance to preview and then review his new book "Killing Cockroaches" I jumped at the chance. For a synopsis of the book go here.

Killing Cockroaches is a tremendous gathering of wit and wisdom on church leadership and cultural connection. The book is essentially a collection of blog entries (and it reads as such). While this can be difficult for some to read - there is no narrative to hold the entries together nor is there an outline of descending or ascending point - it is like going to lunch with Tony every day for a month! There were some entries that were pretty foundational and elementary, but there were others that rocked my world and made me ask questions of myself and my church.

I have shot off emails to my staff and leaders several times over the last few days with snippets of Tony's book. I will continue to this (of course pointing them to his book and recommending that they purchase it!).

If you want a creative, thought-provoking book that makes you think about how you lead and what you do each day, this is a book for you. Be prepared to question, to consider, to laugh, and quite possibly to grow! I recommend this book to every leader who wants to become a better, well-rounded leader.

Under the Mercy,
Jason
