My generation was a "soundbite generation." If it couldn't be said in a sound bite, we didn't hear it. Elections were won this way. Nike sold billions of shoes telling us to "just do it!" Who doesn't remember "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit"? Everything I remember came in a sound bite.
Last night my wife and I went to a concert. A high schooler from church took care of our kids while we were out. She did a great job and really appreciated her.
Every time I have an interaction with a teenager, I'm reminded that we have moved from soundbites to emoticons. If it can't be said with some symbol (i.e. :) or ;) or :( or :-0 or :-D...you get the picture - pun intended...lol) it's not that important.
On the way home from the concert, we "texted" her (yes, we know how to text!) to let her know our ETA and find out how things went. Her response was perfect..."they were great <3">
