What is a Blog

While no one may read this, I have to put on "paper" a question: What is a blog? I have often wondered as I have been building this blog - why? Why am I doing it? Do I want followers? Do I want a readership? Do I want to be noticed for my wit and wisdom?

Unfortunately, all of these things are probably true. A blog assumes I have something to say that others will benefit from. This seems a bit presumptuous to say the least. So I ask you - those who might read this occasionally - what topics would you like to hear my thoughts on? I am more of a conversationalist than a writer, so give me some fodder for discussion.
