Creative Version of the Prodigal Son by a girl at Terra Nova!

Here is a story I received from Maddie Woda (a young lady in our church) when I asked people to creatively "enter" the story of the Prodigal Son. She wrote the story from the perspective of the "Elder Brother." It is very creative and I am very proud of this young girl! The dates are actual dates on the Jewish calendar.

6th of Tamuz
Hello I am Ami. My name means reliable and trustworthy. Ari, my brother means lion. Today while working in the fields Ari said “brother. Why do we stay here and work when we could explore the world?” Ari is so terribly foolish. He needs to listen to the eldest. Me. We need be here with father than out in the far lands. Ari should know this. I must sleep, but will write more in the morn.

8th of Tamuz
Ami again. Today Ari told father his plan of exploring far lands. Father said “Ridiculous. Explore far lands when your brother and I need you in the fields. And your mother. Shan’t she be heartbroken?” Thankfully that settles it. Young Ari must learn. We are men and one must work in the fields than play like children.
18th of Tamuz
Ridiculous! Ari is ridiculous. Today he said to father “Father give me my share of the estates.” He might as well killed father and took his share. But I am not foolish little boy like Ari so I will stay out of it and have my share when father dies.

27th of Tamuz
Today Ari just took his belongings and money and fled. Fled! After he left father PRAYED FOR HIM! Like he had an illness.

19th of Kislev
It has been many months since Ari left and we have received messenger that his money is gone. Terrible famine has struck recently and Ari is homeless, moneyless, and in this case, family less

26th of Kislev
Ari has been sighted walking towards us. Father is asleep still as it is not sunrise yet. But mama says not to wake father or he will be quite disturbed with Ari’s arrival. We have not spoken of Ari (well me and Maayana, but she is only little and Ari was her favorite brother) since the prayer session.

26th of Kislev (sunrise)
Ari has just come and you know what? When he was still a long way off father saw him and ran to him. He was filled with compassion for Ari (the son that sinned AGAIST him) and hugged him and kissed him! Yet Ari said “Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I couldn’t hear the rest as father was hugging him so hard. But Father said “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate. I asked Maayana what was happing. And Maayana said “Ari has come home and father has killed the fattened calf. We are celebrating Ami!” I refused to come celebrate. But father said “All that I own is yours and you are always with me Ami For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

27th of Tevet
Ari has been put back to work. I love Ari but… uh how could my brother run away, blow his money, and come back completely faultless. Young Ari. Our father’s love shows me Jehovah. And if Jehovah’s love is a thousand times greater than fathers… what shall be said, other than there really is no love like Joehovah.
